Qarznama is a khata, billing and stock app for shops. This page explains what the app keeps, why, and how to delete it. It covers the Qarznama apps for Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac, and the web app at app.qarznama.com.

What we keep

• Your mobile number, to sign you in with a one-time code, and the name you give.
• Your business records: the businesses you set up, your customers and suppliers (the names, numbers and notes you type), khata entries, bills, items, stock, cash and expenses.
• Your devices: a name such as "Android phone", the platform and when each last synced, so you can see them and sign them out.
• Your settings: language, digits and calendar.
• Security records: sign-in codes are kept only as a scrambled check value for 5 minutes, and the number of sign-in attempts per number and per network address is counted to stop abuse.

Why we keep it

Only to run the app for you: to sign you in, to keep your records on your devices and back them up, and to share a business with the staff you invite. We do not sell your data, show ads or use tracking or analytics tools.

What stays on your device

• Contacts: when you pick a customer from your phone's contacts, only that one name and number are saved. The app never reads or uploads your whole contact list.
• Camera: used only to scan barcodes. Pictures are not saved or sent.
• App lock: your PIN and fingerprint or face unlock stay on the device.

Who stores it

Your records are kept on your devices and on our servers, so they sync and can be restored on a new phone. We use these providers to run the service:

• Neon, for the database (servers in Frankfurt, Germany).
• PowerSync, to sync records between the server and your devices.
• Cloudflare, to run the website and the app's server.
• WhatsApp or an SMS provider, to deliver sign-in codes to your number.

Data travels over encrypted connections. On the server, each business's records can be read only by its owner and the staff they invited. When you share a reminder, bill or statement, it goes through WhatsApp or the app you choose, and you press send yourself.

Staff

If you invite staff to a business, they can see and change that business's records as their role allows. The owner can remove them at any time.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account in Settings. Everything is removed from the device at once, and from our servers 7 days later, together with all businesses you own. Signing in again within those 7 days cancels the deletion. Before you delete, you can download your reports as PDF or Excel.

Children

Qarznama is made for shop owners and their staff, and is not meant for children under 13.
